Time, Talent, & Tasks

April 9th, 2007

The fact of the matter is that more and more people are liking less and less church. This can clearly be seen in the lagging church attendance around the country. The blunt reality is the church is viewed as less relevant because it isn’t making a difference in people’s lives.

Don’t get me wrong here. I’m not putting down churches or church people. There are a lot of really great people in a lot of really great churches. I’d love to get to know all of them. Really! A lot of these church goers have good hears, minds and intentions. They’d work their fingers to the bone to build the kingdom of God…if they only knew what work to do.

The answer to this problem is loving action. What to do isn’t the problem if you’re doing something. As the saying goes, it’s easier to change the direction of a rolling boulder than a stationary boulder.

Will you make mistakes if you do something less than perfect? Of course you will. Mistakes are how we LEARN what to do. We learn more from our mistakes than we do from our successes.

(Ecclesiastes 9:10 NIV) Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the grave, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.

Death comes to us all. Be about your Father’s work while you still have time.
